5 Upcoming Engineering Projects In The Netherlands

Are you a qualified engineer and an EU national looking for work in the Netherlands? If so, we have some great news for you! Here at InAxtion, our clients have lots of fantastic projects coming up in September. There’s a wide range of roles available including pipe fitting, electrical and instrumentation engineering, plumbing, steelwork, and more. Now’s the perfect time to apply. Here are five upcoming projects.

1 Botlek Terminal

Every year, we recruit around 100 engineers to complete checks and maintenance on the tanks and refineries at the Botlek Terminal during the shut-down period between September and November.

If you’re a newcomer to the Netherlands, it’s an ideal opportunity to learn a lot in a short amount of time. It also puts you in a great position to apply for future engineering projects after the shutdown ends – including longer-term maintenance projects.

The work is highly varied and interesting, and requires mechanical and electrical and instrumentation (E&I) engineers as well as skilled pipefitters. No day is ever the same, and there’s a wide variety of tasks.

Not qualified in instrumentation? Some on-the-job training opportunities are available. Contact us to find out more.

2 Luxury Super Yachts

The Netherlands has a global reputation for building luxury yachts. We have a number of specialist engineering projects on board some of the finest yachts in the world. You’ll be working alongside top-class engineers – so you can learn from the best!

Right now, we’re recruiting super yacht electricians. This year-long project begins with pulling cables and includes terminating panels, boxes, JB's, Roxtec, control rooms, LAN, TV, USB, Wi-Fi, switches, lighting, fire, smoke and gas detectors, and more. You’ll cover the entire process, from beginning to end.

3 Onshore Engineering

Places on offshore engineering projects are limited. But if it’s something you’d like to do in the future, a good starting point is to complete onshore projects first.

There are opportunities to work on the platforms that come to Rotterdam Harbor for check-ups and maintenance. Work is also available on naval vessels and luxury yachts. We’re currently recruiting ship engineers for a project to replace cables, and check meters.

4 Transport Infrastructure

The Netherlands’ network of dykes generates a number of related infrastructure projects. For that reason, there’s a strong demand for skilled workers to complete a range of engineering and construction tasks.

The work to be done typically covers transport infrastructure – such as lighting systems and traffic lights. At InAxtion, we look for candidates with experience in construction projects. Experience in engineering for utilities is also useful.

5 Distribution Centers

Logistics is an ever-growing industry. Like other countries in the world, the Netherlands keeps up with demand by building large-scale distribution hubs. These vast projects create many long-term opportunities for engineers. This includes the installation and maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring that they’re safe, reliable, and efficient. Projects typically last one year.

At InAxtion we offer a wide range of skilled engineering roles to EU nationals in the Netherlands. Interested in applying for a role on one of these projects? View current vacancies
